Official Records:
The Village Clerk maintains birth, marriage,
and death records for the Village of Nunda. These must have taken
place within the Village to be recorded. These records may contain
information on specific veterans. State Law limits access to these
records, please contact the Village Clerk's Office for more information.
- Birth Records 1892 to present
- Marriage 1892-1907 (these records include
names of bride and groom, occupation of husband, and parents
names)
- Death 1892 to present (these include
age, occupation, birthplace, length of residency, place of burial,
race, marriage status. Veteran status included after 1988)
Other Resources: The Clerk maintains file folders with assorted materials
relating to the Village. Many of these have been donations from
Village residents.
- "Nunda Boys Start for War" Nunda News June 16, 1917. Newspaper article
reporting on first local soldiers reporting for duty in WWI.
Includes a list of names of Nunda soldiers and details of parade
escorting soldiers to Rochester. (See list of names)
- Military Related Parade Photographs
five black and white photographs of a Nunda Parade that may have
been the related to the Foote Factory during World War II.
- Photograph Nunda Parade one black
and white photograph taken by F. L. Dake. Appears to be the photograph
used in article listed above. Shows gathering in the Village
Square.
Oakwood Cemetery Association Records:
Mrs. Walker also keeps the official records for
the Cemetery Association. These are separate from the Nunda Village
Records. The records are in chronological order from 1900 to present
day. Earlier records consists of gravestone inscriptions. The
information includes date of death, age, cause, location of grave,
and whether the individual was a veteran. Please note that microfilm
copies of some of these records are available at Bell Memorial
Library.
