Creating the Town of Nunda, 1808
Allegany County NY was formed by the New York State Legislature in 1806. At that time over 1500 square miles was taken from Genesee County to form the new county. Two years later addition lands were annexed from Steuben County. That same 1808 law further organized the nascent county, including the formation of four new towns - Alfred, Caneadea, Ossian and Nunda. You will find below the original law that organized our town and began the journey which continues more than two centuries later. For more on Nunda's historical boundaries, click here! |
