This wonderful image shows the Nunda Village Square in 1866. The image was taken from the balcony of the St. John's Hotel, looking north east. Across the square is the Eagle Hotel, which was later moved down East Street and replaced by the Livingston Block. The balcony of the Nunda House is to the left. The tall pole near the balcony may have been erected five years earlier when area men of Company F, the 33rd NY trained in the Square. The buildings to the right still stand today. |
